![]() EASTER MONDAY PÉTANQUE TRIPLES COMPETITION 24th March 2008 The Air Hostess Pétanque Club welcomed 16 teams from as far afield as Leeds to this annual competition. The pistes and surrounds looked good with Mark's new table & parasol combinations. Despite the cold weather with the odd snow flurry, play was to the usual high standard with a league system giving everyone 5 games.
The team of Osman, Rob and Peter, playing on home soil, emerged as clear winners with 5 wins out of 5, taking home individual trophies, cash and fine wine. They also get the competition shield to keep for a year. The runners-up spot was more closely contested with three teams having 4 wins each. Points difference favoured the "APD" team - Andy Pat & Dave, who narrowly edged another home team, namely "Where's Den", into 3rd place. Kevin's "Moustachians" team brought up the rear with a win tally of absolute zero, having been only one point away from avoiding this fate in the very first game. They each went home with a chocolate Easter egg and the resolve to do some more practice before next year!
Anyone wanting to have a casual game is very welcome to come to our club evenings on Mondays from 7.30pm or just come along to the pub and use the club boules which are kept behind the bar.

All the games were played in a good spirit and, with refreshments freely available from the bar, the competition was a perfect opener to the new season.
Our appreciation is shown to all those who prepared the pistes to an excellent standard following the winter period, also to Malcolm for the trophies and redesigned competition shield which ensures continuation of the event for at least a couple of decades. Thanks must go to Charlotte and the staff of the hostelry for keeping everyone supplied with food and drink over a long cold but enjoyable day.
Above all thanks to Peter for his huge input in organising the whole event and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again next Easter if not before.
