The annual Air Hostess Petanque Club's Pairs competition will now be fought for  "The Munro Challenge Trophy".

The trophy was renamed in 2007 in honour of our longest serving member, Ian Munro, who has moved on to new pastures and whose name appears most frequently on the original Pair's Cup

The Club Pairs Competition 2008 for the "Munro Challenge Trophy"  was held on Monday 29^th September

In cool but mainly dry conditions, 16 members participated, a number appreciated by the chairman who organised the mêlée, (if that's not a contradiction in terms) of eight pairings.

With each pairing playing 3 games, the selections threw up some interesting play. Fortunes were certainly up and down with Mike W & John narrowly avoiding a whitewash by Richard & Will in their 2^nd. game , recovering to produce the only "fanny" of the evening in their last game.

The notorious Air Hostess ‘rolling slope' did no favours for Ann & Kevin who bagged the wooden spoon. Keith & Malcolm started and finished well - only to be thwarted by David & Mike D midstream.

However, at the end of the day with only 2 teams unbeaten, Richard & Will had to concede victory to Andrew & Peter who took the Munro Trophy with a marginally better points difference.

Prizes of Peter's pickles and jams were much appreciated and Malcolm presented the "Munro Cup",  a bottle of bubbly and individual "Air Hostess Pairs Champion 2008" trophies to Andrew and Peter.

Thanks must go again to our chairman Peter for organising and running the event which was enjoyed by all the club members present.
